Zimbabwe’s official and main trade promotion and development organisation, Zimtrade, recently announced the launch of a digital inquiries platform. The service is offered on the popular and widely used WhatsApp platform.
According to a flier circulated by the organisation announcing the service, the public can use the platform to inquire on a range of trade and business related issues which include market information, policies and regulations, trade agreements, trade events and trade directory.

We put the service to test a few days after its launch and we did receive a timely response and our request for some trade agreements was pleasantly fulfilled.
A lack of information among potential exporters be it horticultural producers or manufacturers has often be cited as a significant draw-back on the growth of the export sector in the country. If sustained, this new platform as simple as it may be could help change the fortunes of many businesses which could find opportunity to get into the export market on account of better and timely access to information.
